Report of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board on Chandapura lake, 08/10/2022

The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has engaged RV College of Engineering, Bangalore to conduct an environmental audit of all the industries existing in the catchment area of Chandapura lake. The KSPCB has not accorded permission to any industry having captive effluent treatment plant to discharge its effluents into the common effluent treatment plant (CETP). Officers have been directed by the KSPCB to collect samples from the drains leading to Chandapura lake for the forensic analysis and trace pollutant studies.

These were some of the points mentioned by the KSPCB via its action plan for the rejuvenation of Chandrapura lake.

As a permanent solution to keep the lake's contamination free, the detailed project report for implementation of UGD system of Hebbagodi City Municipal Council of around 153 crores and for Bommasandra Town Municipal Council of around Rs. 109 crores have been submitted to the government for consideration. The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board report was in response to the NGT order, March 29, 2022.
