  • 16/07/2022

Report of the joint committee constituted in the Original Application No. 220 of 2022 in the matter of K. Ravindran Vs State of Telangana.

The matter dealt with dumping of human excreta through tankers into Musi river at Tippu Khan bridge, Rangareddy district.

The joint committee in its report said that "there is every possibility of dumping of human excreta into river Musi through septic tankers as there is no fencing on both sides of Tippu Khan bridge. The committee recommended that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Musi River Front Development Corporation Limited (MRFDCL) should erect fencing across both sides of Tippu Khan bridge to a minimum height of 10 to 12 feet, so that human excreta and municipal solid waste cannot be dumped into river Musi.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) and Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration (CDMA) must ensure that the septic tankers have permission and also GPS tracking system to the tankers for collection and disposal of human excreta transported to fecal sludge treatment plants and sewage treatment plants maintained and operated by HMWS&SB.
