Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of News item published in The Indian Express dated 29.12.2021 titled “The road to rediscovery of Kham, the seasonal river of Aurangabad” dated 28/02/2022.

The matter is related to the pollution of Kham river, Aurangabad, Maharashtra which is polluted by untreated discharge of sewage. The pollution is affecting the farmers who have to use the polluted water for irrigation.

The NGT directed remedial measures to be taken by the concerned administrative authorities and file an action taken report. If there is already an action plan prepared by the River Rejuvenation Committee (RRC) Maharashtra in respect of Kham river, the same must be executed accordingly, the NGT order, February 28, 2022 said.
