Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of M. C. Mehta Vs Union of India & Others dated 08/05/2018 regarding sealing drive in Delhi against unauthorised constructions. Report No. 118 of the Monitoring Committee was placed before the Court and it deals with alleged unauthorised constructions in Khan Market as well as in Sanjay Market. It has also been pointed out that the seals of the premises sealed on 2nd August, 2007 in Sanjay Market have since been tampered with and huge multi storeyed buildings have come up on all the sealed premises. Even some of the premises have been converted to residential premises.

Supreme Court makes it clear that if there are any areas where there are violations which have come to the notice of the Monitoring Committee, they may be sent directly to the Special Task Force. For the purpose of the accountability, Supreme Court wants the Special Task Force to meet once in a fortnight along with concerned officials of the various corporations and the Zonal authorities to ensure that the orders of this Court are implemented in letter and spirit.
