India Inc. aligns with NDC and Paris Agreement to seize opportunities: CDP India climate change report 2017

Businesses in India are increasingly focusing on setting their emission reduction and renewable energy targets by aligning themselves with the country's climate action plan under the Paris Agreement, an analysis by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) India said in a report. Over 80% of the 51 companies (of which 43 are among the BSE top 200 companies), responding to the CDP India Climate Change programme, have reported one or more types of emissions reduction targets and initiatives in 2017. The report also noted that about 40% companies are committed to renewable energy production and consumption targets with three of them - Infosys Limited, Tata Motors Limited and Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited - even committing to 100% renewable power in due course in tune with India's clean energy ambition.
