IGF mining policy framework assessment: Rwanda

IGF mining policy framework assessment: Rwanda This assessment was conducted by the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF) and its associates at the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) between December 2016 and February 2017 with support from the Government of Canada. It assesses the mining laws and policies of Rwanda and the country’s capacity to implement the IGF Mining Policy Framework (MPF). The assessment involved extensive desk-based research and a five-day field visit to Rwanda, during which the project team met with a broad array of stakeholders from government, civil society, international organizations and the private sector. The assessment included visits to two mine sites and a smelter facility. The assessment phase of this project concludes with this report.
