Question raised in Lok Sabha on Polluted Ground Water, 06/04/2017. As per the ground water level data monitored by Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), Pre-monsoon (April/ May, 2016) water level data when compared with the decadal average (2006-2015) indicate that 66% of the wells have registered decline in ground water level in certain pockets in all the States/UTs of the Country. State-wise details are given at Annexure-I. Ground water data collected/ generated by State Ground Water Departments and CGWB is used to estimate the annual replineshible ground water resources of the Country periodically using a well defined methodology viz. Ground Water Resource Estimation Committee methodology (1997). State-wise details are given at Annexure-II.
