Question raised in Lok Sabha on Forest Right Act, 18/07/2016. As per the information received from various State Governments /UT Administrations upto 31st May, 2016, 44,27,613 claims (43,11,233 individual and 1,16,380 community claims) have been filed and 17,46,338 titles (17,02,846 individual and 43,492 community claims) have been distributed comprising 43.92 lakh hectares of forest land. A total of 38,63,025 (87.25%) claims have been disposed of under Scheduled Tribes and other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Right) Act, 2006. Complaints are received from time to time regarding implementation of the Forest Rights Act, 2006. The onus of implementation of the Act lies with State/UT Governments which is an ongoing process. Hence, these complaints are referred to the respective State Government/UT Administrations for taking necessary action at their level. This Ministry constantly follows up with the concerned States/UTs and provides support by holding consultations in different parts of the county and clarify doubts whenever required.
