Way of life Khiujuanang Rongmei is a member of the village authority in Bamgaijan. Old and losing his ability to hear, he remembers the party that came for survey operations for the Tipaimukh dam in 1992. "Some people came along with the sub-divisional officer to see the water level. They came to our village and in few places in our village they dug pits and stuck iron rods in them. These they said were the demarcation of where the water would reach in the village once the project is ready. We told them we don't want the dam. They didn't talk much and left. Then in 1999 they came again. Someone said he was working with NEEPCO. They came to the church office, invited the elders and tried to explain that the dam would be beneficial to us
