Goa flouts CRZ notifications

Goa flouts CRZ notifications  latest data on constructions in the Coastal Regulatory Zone (crz)- iii in Goa show that the number of structures in the coastal villages of Goa has almost doubled in the past 15 years. During 1991-206, structures between 200 m and 500 m of the high tide line increased from more than 4,000 to 8,000. In North Goa, the number has increased from about 2,500 in 1991 to more than 4,500 in 2006, while in South Goa, the structures have increased from 1,643 to 3,470 during the same period.

The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (gczma) submitted the report to the High Court of Bombay at Goa on January 28.
