State of the world’s minorities and indigenous peoples 2011

In the year that saw the establishment of a new UN agency for women, minority and indigenous women faced systematic violence, discrimination and marginalization. Both their identity as women and their membership of disadvantaged communities placed them at risk. This year’s edition of State of the World’s Minorities and Indigenous Peoples presents information on an extensive range of topics relating to the situation of minority and indigenous women, from gender-based violence, access to justice and political representation to trafficking, reproductive rights and the Millennium Development Goals.
