The Dam Safety Bill, 2010

This bill introduced in Lok Sabha is aimed at setting up an institutional system for regular monitoring of safety of large dams.  It is to provide for proper surveillance, inspection, operation and maintenance of all dams of  certain parameters in India to ensure their safe functioning and for matters connected
therewith or incidental thereto.

 

 

 

The Dam Safety Bill, 2010 aims to establish an institutional system to regularly monitor the safety of large dams was introduced in the Lok Sabha. A Bill to provide for proper surveillance, inspection, operation and maintenance of all dams of certain parameters in India to ensure their safe functioning and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. The Bill seeks to enjoy responsibility on central government, state governments and owners of specified dams to set up an institutional mechanism for ensuring safety of such structures and reporting the action taken.
